17 April 2012Appeals Court Blocks NLRB Poster RuleIn a major victory for the Coalition for a Democratic Workplace (CDW), the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit granted an injunction to delay the effective date of the National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB) union poster rule. The poster rule was slated to be effective on April 30, but has been delayed indefinitely pending the appeals process and decision. AMT is a longstanding member of the CDW. (more) |
09 April 2012Administration Announces Pilot Institute for Manufacturing InnovationThe Obama Administration has identified additive manufacturing as the technology focus for the Pilot Institute for Manufacturing Innovation (IMI). The Pilot Institute to serve as a proof-of-concept for the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation - a $1 billion project proposed in the FY2013 budget to establish 15 collaborative institutes, each with a different technology focus, that will bridge the gap between basic research and product development; provide shared assets to help companies (particularly small manufacturers) access cutting-edge capabilities and equipment; and create an unparalleled environment for education and training in advanced manufacturing skills. 30 March 2012AMT Signs Industry/Association Letter Supporting Ex-Im Bank ReauthorizationAMT joined 325 U.S. companies and industry associations in a letter to Congress supporting a swift reauthorization of the U.S. Export-Import Bank (Ex-Im). Ex-Im’s charter expired on September 30, 2011.The Bank is currently operating under an extension that expires on May 31. Failure to act quickly on a long-term reauthorization threatens the many American jobs that depend directly or indirectly on its crucial export financing. (more) |
07 February 2012AMT Signs Association Letter Urging Bonus Depreciation ExtensionAMT joined 115 associations in urging House and Senate conferees to add a temporary extension of 100% bonus depreciation to the payroll tax cut bill they are considering. Current law allows businesses to immediately expense 50% of the cost new equipment bought and placed in service in 2012, down from 100% in 2011. The associations urged the lawmakers to extend 100% expensing through 2012 to support business investment and job creation.(more) |
