Opening day for IMTS 2016 is just over a month away. Are you prepared? Check our to-do list to make sure you’re ready for your arrival at McCormick Place!
  1. Register by August 12:  Remember, the deadline for free AMT member registration, exhibitor badges and distributor badges is August 12. Beginning August 13, registration will be $35. Register at
  2. Subscribe to IMTS Insider:  Catch up on the latest updates about the show, as well as information on business solutions, manufacturing technology advances, marketing and sales tips, professional development, and industry events. Go to to subscribe.
  3. Subscribe to IMTS Technology e-Newsletter:  From the editors of Modern Machine Shop, the IMTS Technology e-Newsletter is an exclusive reveal of new technology that will be on display at IMTS. Every issue features 14 new products from the biggest names in manufacturing, as well as editor commentary on technology trends to watch for at the show – from the latest in data-driven manufacturing to innovations in sustainability.
  4. Watch the IMTSTV “Around Chicago” video series: Explore the best spots in Chicago and learn how to get around the city, where to eat and hang out, great sights to see and even some unique hotels.
  5. Sign up for the Miles for Manufacturing 5K run/walk: The mid-week early morning Miles for Manufacturing 5K run/walk (M4M) can help you stay focused on your fitness during the hectic days at IMTS. Even better, the proceeds go to a good cause! On Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 7 a.m., the M4M will take participants on a scenic route down Lake Shore Drive. The start and finish line is at DuSable Harbor close to many hotels, allowing time for a quick shower before the show floor opens for the day.

  7. What’s an IMTS Star?  Visitors: If you have attended four consecutive editions of IMTS (2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016), you are eligible for a complimentary membership in the IMTS Star Club. IMTS Star Club members will receive a limited edition commemorative badge, which provides access to the Star Club Lounge, Star shuttle bus line and the Star taxi line, and pre-blocked seating at select McCormick Place restaurants.  Exhibitors: Look for the “IMTS Star Club” badge and you’ll know these are committed and engaged IMTS visitors.
  8. Exhibitors & Distributors: Reserve your tickets for your exclusive lunchroom to enjoy a stress-free lunch in the Exhibitor/Distributor Lunchroom, located in the South Building in room S105. Serving lunch from 11:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., this is the perfect place to grab a bite and have some time to regroup with your staff or meet your customers for a sit-down lunch without leaving McCormick Place. Exhibitors: purchase tickets through your e-Kit. AMT Distributors: purchase tickets in the distributor registration process.
  9. Post job openings on The Career Launch Pad is a new feature this year within the IMTS Smartforce Student Summit, linking workforce-ready students and soon-to-be-graduates with potential employers. Post your openings on to connect with candidates.
