MTConnect Technical Advisory Group Meeting held Sept. 1-2, 2015
The third MTConnect Technical Advisory Group (TAG) meeting of the year was held Sept. 1-2, 2015, at Georgia Tech Manufacturing Institute in Atlanta, Ga. Representatives from TAG member organizations met to work on enhancements for the MTConnect standard version 1.4.0 release, as well as report progress of active working groups. The host, Andy Dugenske, gave attendees a tour of the Georgia Tech Manufacturing Institute’s centers and labs. The next TAG meeting will be held Nov. 9-10, 2015, at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, Md.

[MC]2 Conference 2016 Call for Speakers announced
Call for Speakers has been announced for the fifth annual [MC]2 Conference, which will be held April 19-21, 2016, in Dallas, Texas. The conference will include talks, workshops, exhibits, and networking opportunities. Speakers are sought to continue the momentum of the past conferences and help build the best inspirational, educational and action-oriented [MC]2 yet.

Extension announced for MTConnect Student Challenge’s ideation competition
The deadline for the MTConnect Student Challenge ideation competition has been extended until December 15. In addition to allowing students more time to develop and submit their ideas, this also allows for more entries into the competition.
The MTConnect Student Challenge seeks ideas and applications using MTConnect. Sponsored by the Department of Defense, the competition is open to all U.S. college students and is offering a total of $33,000 in cash prizes for winning submissions. The challenge may be of particular interest to students who are studying manufacturing-related fields; electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering; as well as software engineering and IT-related studies.
