General Motors honored Comau with the GM Innovation Award at GM’s 25th annual Supplier of the Year awards ceremony for Comau’s creation of a flexible robotic body assembly framing system for reproduction operations. The solution allows pre-production vehicles to be more easily manufactured using similar tooling and processes as they would in actual operations, therefore improving future vehicle launch quality.

Mastercam, a global partner of WorldSkills, was named the official supplier to the four machining competitions at the Abu Dhabi WorldSkills 2017 event to be held October 14-19, in the United Arab Emirates. Competitions include CNC turning, CNC milling, plastic die engineering, and the Manufacturing Team Challenge. The challenge requires teams to use Mastercam to produce parts on turning and milling machines that may be assembled to produce a workable product. WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 is the year’s largest international skills competition, drawing young people from around the world competing to be the best in their chosen skill.
Methods Machine Tools, Inc., named former AMT Chairman Jerry Rex as its President. Rex, who has spent the last year at Methods as COO, will oversee all operating functions of Methods Machine Tools, including its Sudbury, Mass., headquarters and the six other locations throughout the United States. Bryon Deysher, long-time company president, has accepted a new position as executive director of the board.

MC Machinery Systems moved into its newly built headquarters in Elk Grove Village, Ill. The new 175,000-SF facility features a 50,000-SF showroom, a machine refurbishment area, state-of-the-art laboratory and clean room, advanced call center, a MC Remote 360 Central Station to remotely monitor customer equipment and diagnose disruptions before they happen.
