READ FIRST: Are you eligible for the CMTSE? Certification candidates meet the following requirements:

  1. Must have a minimum of one year of outside machine tool sales experience for a machine tool distributor or builder. 

  2. Must meet one of the following:

    1. Has completed four years of related machine tool employment in applications, services, inside sales, training, and/or outside sales. 

    2. Has completed two years of related employment combined with the completion of a four-year, undergraduate degree at an accredited institution. 

     NOTE: Machinist experience may substitute for one year of related machine tool employment.

If you meet the above criteria, you may proceed to the steps below.

1. Apply:

2. Register

Once your application is approved, AMT will provide (by email) a secure link to officially register for the exam date of your choice. At this time, the appropriate registration fee will be assessed:

$895 for AMT members
$1,095 for non-members

Your payment provides access to the two-volume CMTSE Candidate Study Guide, a seat at the online exam, and a comprehensive final exam report. For those who pass, AMT also provides a personalized, ready-to-frame certificate, marketing kit, recognition items, and recertification updates.
