First, apply for the CMTSE...

Click to complete the Online CMTSE Candidate Application. There is no fee to apply. You will need the following information:

  • Current employment information, including supervisor contact info.
  • Previous employment information, including supervisor contact info. (relevant experience only)
  • Education information, including dates of attendance and majors/degrees.

Your application will automatically submit for review and an AMT representative will contact you with next steps.

Then, register for an exam date...

If AMT approves your application, you will receive (by email) a secure link to register for the exam date of your choice. A registration fee will be assessed at that time ($895 for AMT members / $1,095 for non-members), payable by American Express, Mastercard, or Visa. Learn more about multi-person discounts.

Registration provides access to the two-volume CMTSE Candidate Study Guide, a seat at the online exam, and a comprehensive final exam report. For those who pass the exam, AMT also provides a ready-to-frame certificate, marketing kit, recognition items, and recertification updates.

Registration expires two years after the date of purchase. This two-year term is helpful if you need to transfer to a different exam date or if your first test attempt yields a non-passing score and you wish to re-test. Learn more about date transfers, re-takes, and cancellations/refunds.
