UNITED GRINDING North America Announces Road to Success Event Series
Company will visit nine U.S. cities with STUDER, WALTER and automation technology
MIAMISBURG, Ohio, May 7, 2019 – To help its customers overcome their toughest manufacturing challenges, UNITED GRINDING North America is holding a series of educational road-show-style events across the country. Known as the Road to Success, the events take place between April and October at community and technical colleges and manufacturing distributors in nine cities across the United States and include various presentations as well as systems from STUDER, WALTER and UNITED GRINDING Automation Solutions.
Each stop on the Road to Success includes a full day of presentations featuring the latest technology from UNITED GRINDING North America, as well as live machine demonstrations, software seminars and opportunities to speak with potential employers, applications specialists and partnered vendors. Speakers on topics ranging from enhancing the productivity of cylindrical grinding operations to the advantages of single-source, integrated automation present innovative solutions, and each session is followed by opportunities for visitors to have their questions answered and challenges addressed.
Among the machines at the event will be the WALTER HELITRONIC POWER 400, a powerful tool grinding solution with integrated grinding wheel/electrode changer, extended traverse range and a larger machining envelope for tools up to 380 mm in length. For measuring its finished products, the event will also show the WALTER HELICHECK 3D, which uses a combined transmitted-light camera and laser sensor, along with WALTER’s 3D Tool Analyzer software, to scan and digitize cutting tools and production parts to create 3D models.
In addition to the WALTER equipment, many cities will also have the opportunity to see the STUDER favoritCNC. An exceptionally flexible universal cylindrical grinding solution, the favoritCNC grinds both single-part and batch production, combining cost-effective price with high productivity. The machine incorporates a full enclosure atop a Granitan® base for optimal precision, performance and safety.
For shops interested in boosting their throughput even further, UNITED GRINDING North America will also demonstrate the newly redesigned flexLoad Automation System, a robotic loading/unloading solution that can be fully integrated with STUDER machines. The first standardized product from UNITED GRINDING Automation Solutions, which also provides customized automation systems for all UNITED GRINDING Group brands, flexLoad has been shown to significantly improve shops’ productivity – one flexLoad system running a five-day work week improves productivity by 33 percent per shift over output with a human operator, saving nearly $2 million in labor costs and productivity enhancements over a 15-year period.
Following its events in Buffalo, New York; Auburn Hills, Michigan; Chicago, Illinois; and Houston, Texas, the Road to Success includes the remaining stops:
  • 6/19: Wichita, Kansas – Friends of Doc B29 Hangar
  • 9/25: Memphis, Tennessee – Cardinal Machinery
